I've had some amazing runs lately, and yesterday I finally did something that I haven't been able to do in a very long time: I completed a run without any walking breaks.
It may have only been three miles, which may not sound very far, but it was a big achievement for me.
As I was coming to the final mile of my run, I really wanted to slow down and walk, but I managed to keep going. I started playing a game, where I would challenge myself to keep running until I reached the mailbox, then the stop sign, then the lamp post, etc. Before I knew it, I was back home and had run the entire time.
As soon as I stopped focusing on pace and distance and started running for pure enjoyment, I started to have fun AND improve. I love it when things work out that way.
